You are not the conductor, at least you were never meant to be. You were meant to be a part of the orchestra. It is the very first thing we need to learn if we are to be reconciled to God and come into his kingdom. Romans 8: 28 asserts that God alone knows how to conduct all the actors and activities of life so that they come to a grande and good finale.
Our calling? We are to come to a place of attention and readiness so we can move and play at the conductor’s direction. We are to repent and believe. God has the score. We cannot read it from where we stand. What we can read is God’s promise and assurance to us. “For we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8: 28)
The word “works” translates orchestrates and this orchestration includes everything, from the fathomless depths of space to the tiniest submicroscopic particle and everything in between. We can trust the Master Conductor. We can also enjoy being a part of the orchestra!
